This challenge obviously needs a great amount of preparation, not only in terms of a boat and equipment but also physical training.
Tommy has the experience of how to train to the highest standard and reach peak physical fitness. Now focusing on endurance and strength, mixing cardio and interval training with body-weight resistance and circuits, Tommy really is aiming to be as fit as he can be come the start of the race. He is currently preparing to run the Paris marathon in April, which will be a strong gauge on how he is progressing with his training.

Tommy has acquired the help of Jon Stratford, an ex Royal Marine Physical Training Instructor. After appearing on ‘Commando: on the front line’, an ITV documentary following recruit training, Jon left the Corps and became head instructor at a leading health and fitness camp. He is now a PT at The Third Space Gym in London and is an expedition trainer for the Catlin Arctic Survey, as well as a fitness expert writing for Zest magazine. |
